Assistant Professor Nada Moumtaz writes about the complexities of aid in "The Donation Dilemma: Charity in the aftermath of the Beirut Explosion". Moumtaz, who grew up in Beirut, examines what she calls the "NGO-ization of aid, and the way it contributes to reproducing a neoliberal state by providing the services the state used to provide."

Nada Moumtaz teaches in the Department for the Study of Religion and Department of Near & Middle Eastern Civilizations where her focus is the intersection of Islamic legal studies, the anthropology of Islam, and studies of capitalism.
