Writing Support

Writing-Integrated Teaching (WIT) Program

Learning how to write effectively is one of the most important ‘transferable skills’ you can gain from university. Many of our courses at the Department for the Study of Religion (DSR) have benefitted from participation in the Writing-Integrated Teaching (WIT) initiative in A&S. In practice, this means that TAs are given extra hours specifically dedicated to helping you with producing written work. At the DSR, we tend to focus our WIT support on first- and second-year courses. RLG 200H1 (‘Study of Religion’), in particular, has been designated as a WIT course, in which the instructors and teaching assistants guide students through a series of regular writing assignments designed to build competence and confidence as writers.

For 2023-2024, the courses we are offering with a WIT component are shown below. For more information on these courses, see the current course calendar

  • RLG100H1S World Religions
  • RLG101H1F Reason and Religion in the Modern Age
  • RLG200H1F and RLG200H1S The Study of Religion
