Religion Café: Design/materiality and morality
When and Where
Description
With anthropologist Keith Murphy of University of California, Irvine (via Zoom).
Join us in a conversation with Keith Murphy as he talks us through his interest in form and morality and why he’s found it interesting – with examples from his current ethnographic project on Unicode as well as the image below for discussion!
Keith says: To me every form is moral in one way or another — in the sense that forms are coded (or are interpreted) with blunt senses of “good” and “bad,” filtered through a bunch of frames (e.g., religion, economics, politics, and so on). My main interest is in the relationships between the people who make the forms and the people who encounter them.
