Professor Esmat Elhalaby (University of Toronto) is an intellectual historian of modern West and South Asia at the University of Toronto. His writing has been published in Modern Intellectual History, Arab Studies Journal, Boston Review, American Quarterly, Michigan Quarterly Review, Dissent, and elsewhere. For his article “Empire and Arab Indology” Elhalaby was awarded the inaugural Amílcar Cabral Prize from the Institute of Contemporary History in Lisbon.
