Biography

Yasmeen is an MA student specializing in the intersection of Islamic societies, cultures, and politics with a focus on feminism. She graduated from the University of Toronto in June 2023 with an HBSc, majoring in both biology and religion. Driven by a passion for the study of religion, her goal is to contribute to the academic conversation surrounding the historical and contemporary roles of women in Islam. She also aims to explore how Islamic teachings are used to influence women’s rights and daily lives.
