Biography
Julie is a doctoral student at the Department for the Study of Religion. She completed her BA with Honors in Religion at Florida State University in 2019. She completed her MA in Jewish Studies from Indiana University in 2021, defending her thesis titled “Reading Between the Lines: Consent and Coercion in Yiddish Women’s Literature.” In addition, she has completed three summers of intensive Yiddish language study at YIVO in New York. Her work broadly focuses on Yiddish Literature written by women, transnational Jewish identity in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, writing as a trauma response, semiotics, and translation theory.
