Biography
Ronald Charles joined the Department for the Study of Religion at U of T in January 2022, coming from St. Francis Xavier University, Antigonish, Nova Scotia, where he taught for seven years. Prior to that, he was a visiting Professor of Religious Studies at the University of Miami in Florida and a sessional at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, and at the University of Toronto, Mississauga. Charles obtained his PhD from the Department for the Study of Religion at the University of Toronto. His academic interests are in early Christian literature, Second Temple Judaism, ancient slavery, and in Black diasporic religions.
